Head Start Could be Cut by Republicans

The National Head Start Association, which advocates for the low-income childhood education programs that could be on the chopping block, last month hired Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, including Marc Lampkin, a former Republican congressional aide, and Elizabeth Maier, previously an adviser to former Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona. Sally Aman, a spokesperson for the group, said the organization is worried about potential cuts but that it doesn’t have the resources right now to ramp up its lobbying capability; it has for several years looked to outside lobbyists to help pitch its message, she said.
