Nancy Pelosi Calling for Sessions to Resign

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Wednesday called on Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign after it was reported that he failed to disclose contacts he had with the Russian government when questioned during his confirmation hearing. The Washington Post reported that the then-senator, a leading supporter of Donald Trump for president, spoke with Russia’s ambassador to the United States twice last year.
“After lying under oath to Congress about his own communications with the Russians, the Attorney General must resign,” Pelosi wrote in a statement. “There must be an independent, bipartisan, outside commission to investigate the Trump political, personal and financial connections to the Russians.”
Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking member on the House oversight committee, also called on Sessions to resign.
